It lives over on her YouTube channel and it's actually really, really good. What you might have been missing, though, is that Willow has been quietly making music this whole time. And even though the song got mixed reviews and some minor resentment from those of us above the age of ten who weren't the prodigal daughter of entertainment royalty Will Smith and Jada Pinkett, we were all secretly throwing are heads from side to side as soon as the jerky intro bled through our radios.īut in the six or so years that have passed since Willow’s debut single dropped, it’s safe to say that few of us have heard very much from her beyond that amazing Chanel campaign last year. First, the story lacks any sense of originality or creativity. There’s so much wrong with it that I don’t know where to begin. (Tatsumaru Tachibana plays Jin Mori)įor a story that is simple at its core, it was poorly presented and executed. I’m fond of the seiyuu for Mira (Ayaka Ohashi) because I loved her when she played the main character in Sabagebu! Her performance wasn’t especially amazing, but it was still alright. I was also impressed with the performance of Tatsumaru Tachibana as Jin Mori, since this is his first time as the lead character in an anime. Some good seiyuu appear in GOH, such as Daisuke Namikawa (Mujin Park), Kouki Uchiyama (Ilpyo), Tomokazu Seki (Announcer T), and Kenji Tsuda (Jegal). Ordinarily I’d give this category 6/10, but it deserves a little better because of the voice-acting. Other than that, there’s not much to say about the music. There are some nice fast, inspiring pieces great for action scenes and important battles. As for the ending song, “Win” by CIX, it’s honestly very forgettable. There’s nothing wrong with the song, but it really isn’t my style. ![]() The opening song, “Contradiction” by KSUKE featuring Tyler Carter, was no doubt loved by some viewers. These reasons prove that GOH deserves an 8/10 for visuals. Face expressions were good in this anime too. You’re sure to be entertained by the fantastic visuals of the tournament fights. I think my favorite fight was Mori versus the awakened Ilpyo in episode 11. For these battles, the animation is smooth, and excellent use is made of creative shots and camera angles. Throughout the show there are really great combat scenes for martial arts and fantasy fighting. Now that we’ve got the bad stuff out of the way, let’s look at why these visuals deserve an 8/10 score. The character designs were not very impressive, and the colors were a little too dull and dark for a shounen fighting anime. I just couldn’t stop wondering why everyone looks like Rudolf the Red-nosed Reindeer. I applaud an anime for using a new style, but it wasn’t really to my liking. An interesting and unusual art style is used, with characters having slightly wider bodies, reddened noses and ears, and pointy features in general. The art and animation in GOH is excellent, although not all of it was particularly enjoyable to me personally. Be prepared for bombastic battles with supernatural powers at play. As he and his friends Mira and Daewi fight side-by-side, they learn there’s more to this competition than meets the eye. Jin Mori wants to win the tournament to get stronger and reunite with his missing grandfather. The winner will have any one wish granted. The best highschool martial artists from around the country gather and fight in tournaments in the competition known as God of Highschool. 12/28/2023 0 Comments Kindergarten lesson plans library![]() Chanting rhymes as a group, discovering words that sound the same, brainstorming other words that have the same sounds is a powerful tool toward building readers. Nursery rhymes are well-known as one way to build reading readiness. Two: use nursery rhymes to build pre-reading skills. One: use author studies to structure our reading time. ![]() Thinking and brainstorming about how to structure the class led me to two ideas. What to do with 5 year olds in a school library for 40 minutes? What would benefit their development as readers? What would be developmentally appropriate? This is why the daily schedule is always posted, regardless of the grade level.Ī dozen or so years ago, faced with teaching Kindergarten for the first time ever, I was at a complete loss. ![]() When there is a flow, students know what to expect when they come into the library and are better prepared for a successful experience. Almost every library lesson is part of a unit. There are other K units of study that aren’t author studies, notably Folktales Around the World (a 6 week study) and Out of this World Research with Kindergarteners (a 3-4 week unit connected to classroom science). Putter and Tabby Catch the Cold, the K’s research how to stay healthy. Tiger Goes Wild, the students research tigers or another wild animal. One possible answer: choose the final book in the study to springboard into research. How to build in research is one question that often crops up. As a goal, find one author who is willing to Skype during your year. The virtual sessions are perfect for the shorter attention-spans of the K crowd and those with limited budgets: many authors are willing to Skype for free if the time is 10-20min. As many students are familiar with his famous characters, having a “The Mo You DON’T Know” unit (with titles like Hooray for Amanda and Her Alligator and Leonardo, the Terrible Monster) can been successful.Īs technologies have changed, so are the opportunities to connect with real, live authors over Skype and Google Hangouts. Perhaps notably missing on that list is Mo Willems. Jon Klassen, Candace Fleming, Keiko Kasza, Mac Barnett, Lauren Castillo, Christian Robinson, Arthur Howard, Audrey Wood, Peter Brown, Brian Won, Laura Vaccaro Seeger, Ezra Jack Keats, Deborah Freedman, and Anna Kang are some of my favorites. ![]() In my experience, choosing those who represent a diverse background and whose books I find appealing work best. There are many authors and illustrators that work well for the K/1 crowd. ![]() It gives a chance to make connections between books and characters while giving a sense of predictability to a library class: students know that when they come in, they’ll either be continuing an author unit from a previous week or starting a new unit. Years ago, though, I tried something different: author studies.Īn author study is exactly that: a chance to study an author (or illustrator) for a period of time, usually 3-4 weeks. How to teach them in a meaningful way that meets the developmental needs of the 5 and 6 year old learners? Some use the state book award nominees to guide lessons, which may work for you. I haven’t done theme storytimes for years, but expect to have the same them for 3 weeks.įor K & 1st grade, though, standards exist (stay tuned for updates from AASL in November). With no curriculum standards for the 4 year olds and a long, 40 minute library class, this gives plenty of activity and some structure. Similar to how public library storytimes are structured, a theme is woven through the entire lesson (story/stories, songs, activity, etc). This explains how to begin Rhyme Time and includes a video demo.įor lower grades – PreK in particular – using themes to guide library lessons is one way to go. Rhymes are perfectly suited to the PreK/K/1 crowd. This question is asked by many, and with good reason: the needs of the youngest learners are drastically different than those of children just a few years older. What to do with the youngest students in the elementary library? ![]() 12/28/2023 0 Comments Define roger that![]() ![]() When promoting an innovation to a target population, it is important to understand the characteristics of the target population that will help or hinder adoption of the innovation. ![]() Researchers have found that people who adopt an innovation early have different characteristics than people who adopt an innovation later. It is through this that diffusion is possible.Īdoption of a new idea, behavior, or product (i.e., "innovation") does not happen simultaneously in a social system rather it is a process whereby some people are more apt to adopt the innovation than others. The key to adoption is that the person must perceive the idea, behavior, or product as new or innovative. Adoption means that a person does something differently than what they had previously (i.e., purchase or use a new product, acquire and perform a new behavior, etc.). The end result of this diffusion is that people, as part of a social system, adopt a new idea, behavior, or product. It originated in communication to explain how, over time, an idea or product gains momentum and diffuses (or spreads) through a specific population or social system. Rogers in 1962, is one of the oldest social science theories. “Roger that” is another way of saying “sure thing” or “no problem.Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) Theory, developed by E.M. Use it at home when your partner tells you to remember to take the trash out before going to bed. Use it at the office when your boss asks you to prepare the financial statements for review. The phrase suits social and professional use. It’s a way of boosting their confidence in you by giving them a confident response to what they are asking from you. You can use “Roger that” as a confirmation statement when someone gives you an instruction or order. You can use it with people of any name, and it doesn’t reference what a person named Roger is doing. The phrase has nothing to do with the name “Roger.” It’s a way of confirming that you understand another person’s request or instruction. Ways People May Say Roger That Incorrectly Some people think that “Roger” is an acronym for the phrase “Received Order Given, Expect Results.” However, modern radio code replaced “Roger” for “Romeo” in the phonetic alphabet. The start of the NASA-led “Apollo” space program caught the publics’ attention in the international space race. The expression “Roger that” entered the mainstream language during the 1960s. The military also adopted the saying “Roger Wilco,” meaning the same thing as “Roger that.” The slang term would eventually shorten to “wilco,” to confirm receipt of orders from their command. If servicepeople received a message or instruction, they would respond with “Roger that” to confirm receipt of the orders. Military service people started adopting the term “Roger that” shortly after introducing the phonetic alphabet, and it was in use well for the end of WWII. The US military adopted the phonetic alphabet in 1941, with “Roger” representing the letter “R.” In the case of “Roger that,” the “R” in the expression stands for message “received.” The expression “Roger” originates from US radio communications during the early 1940s. We see the Coast Guard chopper inbound to our location, and we’re ready for pick up.” Summitting can be dangerous in this weather.” We know you need it in the next two hours, and our delivery guy is around the block. We’ll make sure we make the wedding on time, don’t worry about it.” Everything is on track, and we’ll be ready to go.” I’ll have that report ready for you on Monday. Make sure no one is late, or we’ll start searching for you.” “Roger that, we’ll all rendezvous by the old factory at 15h00. I’ll remember to take the trash to the corner before I go to bed, I promise.” Keep the airspeed low and no flybys this time, Maverick. “Roger that, confirmed for landing on runway four. The phrase is less common in military slang due to replacing “ Roger” with “ Romeo” in the phonetic alphabet. “ Roger that” means that you’re communicating with someone through official channels and you receive their message. It’s a way of telling someone that you understand their instructions and plan to execute them. The expression “ Roger that” is a confirmation statement used to relay your reply to a message received by an authority figure. This post unpacks the meaning and origin of this expression. Are you looking for a way to confirm receipt of orders from your boss or parents? You could follow their request with the response, “ Roger that,” to let them know you’re on top of their appeal. ![]() |
